I finished up the dress for my daughter on Friday and though I can tell where all the mistakes are, it sure feels good to get this done. Plus, I need to make another one just like it, only smaller, for my younger daughter; because I have already done the pattern, this time it should go buy faster.
The funny thing about sewing to me is that, even with the challenging parts of making clothing, sewing relaxes me and I just love doing it! It is such a blessing to have finally found a hobby that I enjoy and that is peaceful. I have always felt like I was never good at anything; perhaps this may be my niche!
I will share pics of the dress later on this afternoon.

I did it!
I am working on this dress for my dd5 and yesterday I can honestly say that I accomplished a first: I put in a zipper! Yay! Now, of course, this is not generally exciting news to just anyone, but for this momma, the task was daunting. I am not pleased with my topstitching over it, yet I am pleased that I got it done.
I just finished stitching, trimming, turning, and pressing the collars. In a few minutes, I will pin those to the neckline and get those sewn in. After that all I need to get done is the bias tape at the neckline and finish the hem. I truly am so very excited and even though I have been frustrated at times, I can say with complete truth that I love sewing.
Pictures are forthcoming!

Who Am I?
I am Kelly aka Mama Russell. I am the happy wife of Terry since 2002. I am the mother of two beautiful daughters, ages 5 and 3 years old, and one son who is 20 months. My youngest child, a daughter, is safe in her mother's womb and will make her appearance this summer.
I am a beginner in this process of learning to sew and am eager to share with you my triumphs, failures, laughter, frustrations, and hopefully many smiles. I have a brand new sewing/embroidery machine that I will be learning to operate as well. I hope to make many new friends as well, whom I hope to learn from!
My first projects will involve learning to sew dresses for my daughters, cloth diapers for my baby on the way, and possibly a skirt or two for me.
Thank you for joining me on my journey!
